TEACHING
EDDE is currently a lecturer at WAAPA (Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts) in the music artist contemporary course. She also teaches private and groups lessons from her own teaching space and runs a number of different vocal short courses throughout the year. She is incredibly passionate about helping vocalists find their authentic voices. Providing every singer with a deep understanding of correct vocal technique, how to improvise without fear and how to healthily manipulate their placement to create tonal variety. Edde truly believes that one's voice is the connection between our internal and external worlds. Singing is simply audible emotion, having a good connection to your voice gives one the ability to express freely and create art out of pain, happiness, loss or joy.
She also runs a number of vocal focussed short courses throughout the year such as her SOLD OUT 4 wk 'Vocal Alchemy' course and her SOLD OUT 4 wk 'Singing through Anxiety' workshop.

Testimonials
"Edwina Masson is a one of a kind teacher, let alone, human. She is one of the most hardworking, passionate, driven, evolving, knowledgeable people I’ve had the pleasure of learning from, and working with. Edde was my singing teacher, and eventual lecturer, for a year and a half until I completed my course. In every private singing lesson and class lecture I felt understood, challenged, improved and inspired on so many different levels; from technique and musicality, to creatively. Edde so genuinely cares about her students and her content, she has 100% done the hard work and learning herself and continues to push herself through challenge after challenge. Therefore she is able to connect with every student pertaining to their individual needs, simultaneously cultivating awareness and recognition of technique and vocal health in their peers, skills I am so grateful to have developed. Edde is such a versatile, capable and inspiring artist and educator, I could not think of a better mentor for anyone interested in pursuing music, at any level."

"Edde is a driven, intuitive, educated and passionate teacher. She understands that the process of learning and development that requires one to push the limits of what they know is not necessarily going to sound pretty (initially). As a result, she has never cringed at or disapproved of a genuine attempt gone wrong at vocal techniques. She is, instead, very encouraging of a student trying to test their own boundaries. She will never say “you sound bad” and, instead, will say things like, “let’s develop this”. Above all, it is clear that she gives her full attention to her students for the entire duration of a lesson or workshop, which is indicative of her commitment to them in those moments. I am an ongoing private vocal student of Edde, and I have also participated in her Vocal Alchemy workshop and Singing Through Your Anxiety workshop"

“When I decided to do singing lessons with Edde I didn’t realise how many things had been contributing to my vocal strain or just how important your whole body is as a singer. With each lesson she has helped me unlock new parts of my voice and pull into control the areas of my body and life which were contributing to strain and stopping me from reaching greater potential.

Edde has truly created a space where each and every one of her students is safe to be themselves, to make attempts and mistakes. She listens completely to every breath and note and has helped me pinpoint areas of strength and weakness in my voice, always working with me on new techniques and exercises that are so specific to my voice. She completely understands the significance of your whole body being aligned to sing at your best and has helped me make drastic improvements with my stage presence and managing anxiety in my life.
Edde has provided me with so much more than vocal lessons, I have gained so much confidence, I have learnt so much more about my body and I have recipes and tricks for every kind of vocal care imaginable. Instead of being a source of anxiety and pressure, singing has become joy-filled for me again”

"Edde is an extremely knowledgeable and supportive teacher. I came to her singing workshop with very little prior singing experience, and she did such a good job at making me feel immediately comfortable in the class, even though there were attendees of all different levels — most of whom were much more experienced than me! I was impressed with Edde’s very technical approach to helping us understand how the voice works, and explained things to a level of depth that many other singing teachers do not do. I was surprised to learn how a combination of minor tweaks in my technique could make such an immediate impact on the power of my voice!
By far the best gift I have gained, however, from doing Edde’s workshop has been to learn how the voice can be used as a method of therapy and getting to know oneself better. In the workshop, she suggested we go home and hum made-up tune that resonated with us, without any self-judgement or without needing to show anyone, and observe what comes out. I went home and tried it, and experienced what a profound means of self-expression and self-analysis this could be. Edde is a fantastic singing teacher, and I am extremely grateful for this new method of self-expression that she has given me"
